Tuuri Introduction God speaks peace to His people in the new creation of the 8 th Day , delightfully fulfilling Psalm 85:8a. Tabernacle, Altar, Animal, Priest; Double Sabbaths; 8 th Feast God speaks peace to His people apart from verbal inter-personal communication. Phil. 4:7; Col. 3:15 God speaks peace to His people through the means of the human voice and presence. Jn. 13:20 We are to speak peace to one another. 3 John 14; Ps. 35:20 1. To “speak peace” is to assure one another that: The Sovereign Father’s blessings reside on us. Thomas the Twin’s Confession “Kyrios Theos” (LXX for “Yahweh Elohim”) Salvation is near; glory is coming Ps. 85:9 His kingdom is coming, on earth as it is in haven . Ps. 85:10,11 Blessings are on their way, we are walking in His footsteps . Ps. 85:12,13 2. Speaking peace assumes we are on one another’s side. Psalm 124:1,2 We are to live in terms of Biblical partiality, not neutrality. We speak peace to “ His people ” and “His saints.” Psalm 85:8b Needed: A new book series for Pastors: “What It’s Like….” We are to speak peace from our hearts. Ps. 28:3 3. We should speak peace to those in distress: Emotional Distress Economic Distress (loss of glory, loss of “life,” social dimension of life) Physical Distress (Health) (Small “deaths;” isolation form social dimension) Distress of Approaching Death (“long, hard slog” Psalms of Ascent) Distress of an empathetic struggle with those we love going through the above. 4. We should speak peace to those who have sinned. Use the “S” word and the “R” words. Matthew 9:1-8; Gal. 6:1; Eph. 4:32 (children’s song); Col. 3:13; James 5:15 -20 Psalm 85:8c 5.
