Ps. 29:1-3 1. “The God of Glory” Acts 7:2; Ps. 29:3; 1 Cor. 2:8; Heb. 1:3 2. “Thunders” Glory and Dominion Ps. 72:18; Rom. 16:26 3. “Give unto the Lord the glory” ( Full-bucket difficulty) 1 Chr. 16:29’ Ps. 29:2; 96:7-9; 1 Cor. 6:20; Ps. 50:22,23; Mt. 5:16 B. Ex. 33:18-34:10 C. John 17:1-5,10, 18, 22-24 II. Seven Texts in Hebrews 1. 1:3 ...made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, 2. 2:7 ...lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honor, and didst set him over . 3. 2:9 ...the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God might taste death... 4. 2:10 ...are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation ... 5. 3:3 ...For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath .. 6. 9:5 ...the covenant; and over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; ... 7. 13:21 ...his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. And III. Hebrews 13:21 20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. IV. Comments 1. Our joy lies in being well-pleasing in God’s sight. 2. We accomplish this by making His glory our goal. 3. We are to glorify God and enjoy Him in all things. 1 Peter 4:11; 1 Cor. 10:31 4. We glorify God by: (Watson Body of Divinity) A. Appreciation (Admiration) - Ps. 92:8; 97:9 B. Adoration - Ps. 29:2 C. Affection - Dt. 6:5 D. Subjection - 2 Tim. 4:16-18 5. We should aim at God’s glory by: A. Properly Prioritizing It – Dt. 33:9 B. Yielding To His will – Mt. 26:39 C. Seeking His Glory Not Ours - Prov. 25:27,28; 1 Peter 5:10-12 D. Seeking Other’s Glory, Not Ours – Phil. 1:15-18 E. Being Fruitful – John 15:8; Phil. 1:11’ Mt. 5:16 F. Living Cheerfully – Ps. 100:2 G. Praising Him – Ps. 50:23; 86:12 Conclusion: 1 Sam. 4:20,21; Ps. 115:1 Non nobis domine, domine, Non nobis domine, Sed nomine, sed nomine Tuo da gloriam.
