Outline: 2 Samuel 6 “The Tabernacle of David, Part Three” Sermon Notes from Pastor Dennis Tuuri for August 11, 2002 Tabernacle of David Worship was a transition step between tabernacle and temple worship. It began with the advent of the ark to Mount Zion , in Jerusalem , and was distinct from tabernacle sacrifices at Gibeon and later temple worship at Mt. Moriah , also in Jerusalem . It was integrated into later Temple worship in a very significant way. After its initiation, Zion worship was bloodless, involved music and song, occurred in the direct presence of the ark, in an undivided worship environment, where Jews and Gentile god-fearers were brought together. Zion worship involved commemoration, thanksgiving, and praise, with thanksgiving being the sum of all three (v. 4, 7). It memorialized he past (Ps. 106), looked forward to the future with great hope (Ps. 96), and thus produced thanksgiving in the present. 1. Zion worship equips the army of God as a joyful community. V. 2 2. Zion worship is the result of the ascension of the King and the advent of the Spirit of skillfulness. V. 5 A. Saul : 1 Sam. 10:5-12; 1 Sam. 18:7-9; 16:13 -16; 23 B. David and the Psalter C.
